The Amateur Voice - Hi TJay TJay - hey Jeff. thanks again. much appreciated The Amateur Voice - Let me get a little background on your case The Amateur Voice - You were an employee of Alpine Answering Service in Toledo? TJay - ok i'll try the short version.. you want background on me or just the case? TJay - oh yes, yes I was their employee… supposed partner, but nothing on paper, so I just collected a paycheck each week. TJay - I was supposed to be their partner... but... never got anything in writing. I just turned out to be a work slave lol The Amateur Voice - Yes, what were the names of the partners that owned the business officially? TJay - Joe and John… but I'm not supposed to talk about them because they have charges and another case pending against them, for which I'm a witness. But it was in the paper as well, Joe Gary and John Pantanella The Amateur Voice - Is it true that there was also an escort business being through Alpine Answering Service? TJay - Yes. Alpine Answering Service has THREE escort services that I knew of. I was originally hired to rebuild the websites for those. Then they wanted to branch into hardcore sites. The Amateur Voice - So you handled the websites and part of that was running live cam shows broadcast from the office ? TJay - Yes. But the cam shows were not part of the escort service websites. The cam shows were for the hardcore amateur site that we built. The Amateur Voice - But it was broadcast from that office correct? TJay - Correct. We had a studio built where we did all the cam shows and photo shoots and it was in the same building where they operated their "phone service" The Amateur Voice - And from time to time you would perform on the live cam shows with hired models? The Amateur Voice - Or did you do that pretty much regularly? TJay - Three shows a day. Seven days a week. I was a busy beaver :-) The Amateur Voice - And how did this particular girl that was underage come to find Alpine? TJay - not really sure... she was a hired model… and I would meet models after they were hired. But the day that she was hired, I was there so I met her that day and introduced her on a cam show to my members The Amateur Voice - Who hires the models? TJay - They regularly advertised in the local paper for models as well as a local "underground papers" that goes to tattoo shops and strip clubs, as well as advertising on the various websites TJay - John and Joe hired all models and pay all models The Amateur Voice - Is it your position then that they would be the ones responsible for checking the models IDs? TJay - yep The Amateur Voice - So they hire this particular girl for a live cam show... and you step in to perform with her... ? TJay - That's correct. On, I believe 4 shows TJay - but maybe 3 The Amateur Voice - Had you ever met her prior to doing the shows with her? TJay - the initial day that she came in yes. The Amateur Voice - But never before then...? TJay - The story that was given to members was that I met her in the middle of the night in front of my apartment, and asked her if she looked as good out of her bikini as she did in it... The Amateur Voice - You mentioned on the board that she was a known prostitute? Has that been corroborated? TJay - The information that was given to me… and gathered by private detectives that were hired for the case, was that she had been in jail on at least two occasions for prostitution, and a few times for selling drugs on the street. After my partners thought she might be underage (which was discovered by me) she was fired and subsequently was arrested again for prostitution, where this time in juvenile jail she was bragging that she was a "pornstar" on the internet… of course, counselors were interested in hearing about that. The Amateur Voice - How old did she look to you when you first met her? TJay - my sister was 16 at the time of my arrest and even my lawyer had made a comment once about what if my sister did this and I said she better not she's only 16 and my lawyers response was "oh sorry I thought she was 19 or 20…" case in point. I don't judge based on looks TJay - I thought she looked at least 18. she claimed to be 20. But I thought she looked younger than 20. But if I thought even for one second that she was under 18. She would not have been on a camera within 100 feet of me. I truly believed she was the age she claimed. The Amateur Voice - Did you see her ID? TJay - I think I'd also like top point out a few characteristics. She had at one point introduced her kids to me when I took her home after a show. 1 year and 5 years and her body had the stretch marks to collaborate that for me. So I had no reason to doubt. I did not see her id. Had no reason to (well i guess now i did but I didn't think I did at the time) The Amateur Voice - Did the investigators ever get a copy of the fake ID she used when she came to work for Alpine? TJay - that I don't know The Amateur Voice - Did your attorney attempt to present that (the fake ID she used) as evidence in your defense? TJay - I have been given very little information on what they did or did not discover. Some things I have been informed of and others, I am still in the dark TJay - He did not because even the prosecution presented that she provided ID saying she was 20. The Amateur Voice - So the prosecution presented a copy of the fake ID? The Amateur Voice - Did you see it in court? TJay - he really did not "present " anything as there was no "trial" everything happened behind closed doors between my attorney and the prosecution. Then he relayed their plea bargain to me. TJay - Again, there was no trial so nothing was ever presented in court so to speak. The Amateur Voice - But she did present a fake ID to Joe and John prior to doing any work? TJay - That's the way its been explained to me. True or not, is not for me to say. I can only rely what I've been told, unfortunatly The Amateur Voice - Are Joe and John being brought up on charges for this same incedent? TJay - To the best of my knowledge they are not, at least not in the same manner as I was. They have a case pending against them for their operation of the escort service, which was ongoing before this incident. and I have been told that this incident will also be a part of that case against them. The Amateur Voice - In laymans terms is this how it all went down? ... You were webmaster for the websites, for Joe and John, you were the male model for live cam shows regularly and in doing so you performed with many different models... TJay - yep that would be correct The Amateur Voice - so to you these live shows with this girl were just part of a regular day TJay - that would also be correct The Amateur Voice - When did you first discover that she was underage? TJay - she stood out no differently to me than any of the other girls The Amateur Voice - And you can confirm that she was 14 at the time the live shows were broadcast? TJay - she had no vehicle, so I took her to and from the studio (as I did for many of the girls) and one day her boyfriends mom called me asking me how to reach her mother. I'm like. “uh I have no idea” and she says “well she said you are her uncle and I need to reach her mom because she wants to live with me and that's fine but I need some sort of guardianship for her to live with me.” I said “no I'm not her uncle.” Then when we hung up it hit me. Wait. Why does she need guardianship if she's 20 years old? TJay - I cant confirm anything. I still don't know. I only know what police have accused me of. The Amateur Voice - So who contacted the police about this? TJay - She did. Because she was fired when it was suspected that she was not 20. Then she went back on the street prostituting. She was arrested. Then in jail she was bragging about being a porn star on the internet. The Amateur Voice - Fired from Alpine? TJay - correct The Amateur Voice - What made them (Alpine) suspect that she was not 20? TJay - or rather old she could not do any more shows without providing a second ID. The Amateur Voice - Ah TJay - When the boyfriends mother called. That was the trigger The Amateur Voice - When the police talked to you, what age did they say she was? TJay - They originally said nothing. They just went through the list of girls that were on our site or that had done cam shows and asked if I had sex with that person then they would move on to the next name and so on. They reached "her" name and asked (If I had sex with her) and I said yes. I still, at this point was not certain of her age. That's when they told me 14 The Amateur Voice - What was your reaction? TJay - shock, terror, dismay, sadness, fear, paranoia, hell anything you can think of. It all hit me at once. TJay - Anger The Amateur Voice - Anger at who? TJay - The situation, the circumstances, the police, the business, the society, the events in her life that would make her like that at that age, and myself for not catching it at the right time.. The Amateur Voice - How are you feeling about having to go to jail for 6 months TJay - I think originally I was really pissed at her for lying, and my "partners/employers" for hanging me out to dry and jumping ship and I felt I was the victim here. I still feel i'm getting screwed but at the same time I can objectively stand back and say "you know what, I could have possibly done more to verify who she was before doing shows with her, I could have chosen my business associates better, I could have NOT been involved with people that owned escort services and were skirting the law anyway, I could have done a lot of things differently" The Amateur Voice - What kind of time were you looking at if you did not take the plea? TJay - When I got the sentence, I was really shocked, I thought it was unreal that I would get 6 mo. in jail and 6 mo. work release, I was so pissed… but then again I think you know, I could have gotten 10 years. So relatively speaking I'm just trying to make the best of a bad situation that I have no control over anyway. I can be pissed all I want. It's not going to change anything and I don't feel that I should "get off clean" because while I didn't know she was underage at the time, I still feel I made some bad choices, and its good that I should "pay" for them. I would hate for other people to see my case and think cool. Now I can intentionally do child porn and get away with it just like that guy did. That's not the message I want people to get and it certainly was NOT intentional. TJay - If I did not take the plea, and had I gone to court for the original charge I could potentially have gotten 20 years TJay - But with the plea the charges were dropped and the max sentence went to 5 years for each charge TJay - The 20 years was based on the original charges and I think that's fair had I intentionally, or anyone else, done that knowingly I would fully support that person going to jail for 20 years, and being castrated, and anything else you can think of. TJay - BUT knowing the facts in the case, I would never support such a sentence The Amateur Voice - Is there anything else you would like to add TJay - Yeah I think so. I hope that people can draw some good from this for their own benefits. Moving forward into the future, I would never hire someone that even looks like they might be on the edge (at least I wont) I think its a very dangerous thing to play with. And I also recommend 2 id's I know the law doesn't. But I would say if you get two, you cant do anything but help yourself. I also recommend a video taped interview of the models with their IDs, and signing their papers etc. not sure how much good it would do, but again, it cant hurt. I would also say that, I guess I'm lucky. I still think I'm getting shafted, based on the facts, but anyone that even thinks of doing that intentionally with underage girls, you deserve whatever the max penalty is and should get it.
